What you will be doing: Under general supervision of the Town Administrator, performs a wide variety of technical and specialized administrative duties involving the overall responsibility and management of the Town Clerks office. Responsible for maintenance of all Town records and official actions of the Board of Trustees, coordination and conduct of all local elections in accordance with State law.

Manages and coordinates the daily operations of the Town Clerk's office.
Attends Board of Trustee meetings, maintains record of Board actions, prepares meeting minutes, processes Board directions, posts meetings in accordance with Colorado Revised Statutes and serves as primary point of contact for meeting questions.
Drafts ordinances, resolutions and other official Board documentation. Responsible for distribution of all Board of Trustees agendas, packets and records.
Administers and coordinates the Town Clerks office records management program including electronic records management and storage, records retention schedules along with coordinating open records requests from the public.
Manages municipal elections; establishes election calendar; administers candidate petitions and packets; coordinates election with the County; orders and maintains necessary election supplies and equipment. Serves as Designated Election Official.
Maintains a Campaign Finance Report filed for political committees in accordance with the Fair Campaign Practices Act (FCPA) reporting requirements.
Directs, supervises and coordinates the work of assigned staff; hires, trains, monitors work flow; reviews and evaluates work products, methods and procedures.
Accepts and processes applications for special events, solicitor permits and liquor license transactions.
Manages all liquor licensing within the Town, to insure conformity with State Statute and local codes and serves as Secretary to the Liquor Board.
Prepares and delivers public presentations before the Board of Trustees and other boards or commissions.
Prepares Division budget; manages operations within budget guidelines and monitors expenses.
Performs ceremonial functions, administers oath of office, certifies legal documents, maintains custody of the Town Seal and notarizes documents.
Acts as curator of Mt. Pleasant Cemetery responsible for assignment and sales of plot parcels, manages burial service requests and coordinates gravesite preparation and closure.Monitors cemetery budget and acts as the official record keeper for the cemetery.
Performs related work as required and assigned.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in Public Administration, Business or a related field.
Five years of progressively responsible municipal government experience required, preferably in a Town/City Clerk's office.
A combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skill and abilities may be considered.
Certificates, Licenses and Registrations:
Certification by the International Institute of Municipal Clerks is preferred, but can be acquired within four years upon hire.
Must possess or obtain Notary Public Commission upon hire.
Valid Colorado Driver's License.

Understands the Town's political environment and sensitivities; ability to function effectively within that environment.
Ability to develop and maintain productive relationships with elected officials, Town staff, business leaders, advisory boards/commissions and general public.
Exercise tact and diplomacy in contact with the general public, Board of Trustees, Town staff and other government agencies.
Ability to make independent decisions and assist in routine managerial decisions.
Ability to prioritize a wide scope of duties and projects simultaneously.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
